Summitek at CPHI & PMEC Shenzhen 2026: Pharmaceutical-Grade Tube Packaging, Three Years to a Drug Packaging Registration

Mid-September still carries the summer heat in Shenzhen — and even more business momentum. From September 16 to 18, Summitek exhibited at CPHI & PMEC (Shenzhen), the pharmaceutical industry's annual gathering in the Greater Bay Area. This year's edition filled three halls with over 30,000 square metres of exhibition space, nearly 800 exhibitors, more than 15,000 trade visitors and over 30 industry forums.

At Booth 7C25, under the "Medical Aesthetics & Efficacy Innovation · Beauty Supply Chain" section, Summitek presented its pharmaceutical-grade tube portfolio. Over three days, one ointment tube became the busiest "business card" on the stand.

1. On Site: Putting the Tube in the Client's Hand

The product matrix is built around pharmaceutical-grade compliance: D16/D30 pharmaceutical ointment tubes, D30 long-acting insect-repellent tubes, roller-ball massage tubes, a precision repair care series, and custom tube packaging solutions covering pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food applications.

In tube packaging, no photo replaces the moment a buyer squeezes a sample. Wall tolerances, print registration, the soft click of an unscrewing cap, the extrusion feel of the barrier layer — these details only communicate once a tube sits in a palm. Over three days, demo tubes went out one by one — and contact details came back one by one.

2. Three Keywords Buyers Used All Week

Compliance. Drug packaging material registration, a Class 100,000 (ISO 8) GMP-certified cleanroom production base and a Class 10,000 (ISO 7) testing laboratory were the three items buyers verified again and again. In pharma packaging there is no "close enough" — documentation clears the bar first, then samples get a seat at the table.

Sustainability. Three parallel eco pathways: PCR tubes made with FDA-qualified recycled resins, sugarcane-derived green PE tubes, and fully biodegradable tubes that microbes can break down completely. Sustainable packaging is not a cost burden here — it is the next market pass.

Customization. From tube diameter and cap style to printing techniques, one-stop flexible tube customization is backed by more than ten fully enclosed automated lines: 600,000+ tubes per day and 20+ million PE and aluminium-barrier laminate tubes per month — with delivery schedules and quality both in hand.

3. The Weight of a Registration Number: Three Years Grinding a "Pharma" Tube

The most-asked question at the booth was not price, nor capacity, but this: "Do you hold a drug packaging material registration?"

A pharmaceutical tube is far more than "a tube that holds ointment." Drug-contact packaging materials are governed by an associated review and approval system: a producer first completes registration on the national CDE platform for drug excipients, carriers and packaging materials, then undergoes technical review in association with each drug product. Only when a registration moves from status "I" to status "A" does the tube earn its pass into the pharmaceutical market. The review covers the entire chain — hardware qualification of cleanrooms and testing capabilities, process validation across three consecutive pilot batches, stability, drug-compatibility and safety studies, plus the registrant's full life-cycle traceability obligations. The bar is the same for everyone: by public reports, only about twenty producers nationwide are qualified for aluminium ointment tubes alone.

Summitek's answer took three years. To close the gap, the company poured investment into a dedicated R&D and testing facility for pharmaceutical packaging — the Summitek Pharmaceutical Packaging Testing Center — building its testing capability from the ground up. Samples went to the lab batch by batch, data sets were completed one by one, and the registration dossier was rewritten version after version. In March 2025, three Summitek pharmaceutical ointment tube products officially passed the national drug packaging material filing.
